Healthcare
Service users are supported to attend healthcare appointments and encouraged to implement guidelines as recommended by healthcare practitioners.
The overall emphasis is on the development of self management of healthcare needs and independent attendance of appointments.Decision Making
Service users are empowered to make decisions about their life by being provided with the information, assistance and communication support required to enable appropriate decision making.
Full support is given to ensure that correct benefit entitlements are received and, where requested, ongoing budgeting support is allocated.
Participation
In order to promote a feeling of belonging, service users are encouraged to participate in the day-to-day running of our homes.
They are also offered the opportunity to contribute to the development of policies, procedures and services through regular House Meetings and the Service User Forum. Members of the forum are also consulted during recruitment of new staff members.
Risk Taking
As part of an independent lifestyle, service users are supported and enabled to take reasonable risks and provided with the information on which to base decisions relating to these risks.
Risks are assessed prior to admission and regularly reviewed in conjunction with the individual service user. Interventions are put into place to minimise identified risks, and service users are provided with awareness training with regards to their personal safety. Limitations to the service user’s preferred activity or choices are thereby minimised.
