Residents have the opportunity to undertake a trial period of residence prior to their admission during which they are provided with details of the House Rules and Responsibilities and the Terms and Conditions of their prospective placement. This enables them to make an informed decision as to whether or not they wish to accept a placement at Almond Villas.
During their placement residents are encouraged to develop an awareness of their responsibilities in addition to their rights, both in the home and in the wider community. This includes such things as getting on with their fellow residents and neighbours in the community, and respecting each others rights. Residents are supported to access their rights to benefits and concessions for travel etc whilst at the same time being encouraged to accept their responsibility to contribute towards the cost of activities. Through keyworker sessions and 1:1 counselling sessions residents are encouraged to look at past behaviours and their attitudes towards the law and rules and reflect on how they feel when they have broken these. They are also encouraged to look at how such behaviours have impacted upon others and consequences for themselves.
