Residents may initially feel confused and despairing with little hope that things could ever be different. During their rehabilitation residents are encouraged to develop trust in others so that they can engage with the process which enables them to become more optimistic about their own situation. Residents are allocated a keyworker who begins working with them before they are admitted to our homes. The keyworker will initially be their primary point of contact and source of support as it is important that each resident has an individual with whom they can make a connection. As the resident develops their sense of self and confidence in their own abilities, their support network is widened to include others such as friends, relatives, carers, professionals and peers.
